Interesting pointers for move from RHEL -> Debian

The “why” is essentially personal preference of the current admin (”The task of doing this revamp was given to me. And i like debian :)”), I don’t see how this is interesting in any way to us.
Those points are also dubious:

is not necessarily an advantage.
> 2. Superior design (Ex: /usr/sbin/update-alternatives)
We also have “alternatives” in Fedora and it also made its way to current versions of RHEL.
> 3. Stability (Ex: Used on the space shuttle mission STS-83)
NASA also uses RHEL and even Fedora, RHEL is also used in places like NYSE.

But OK, you don’t get to access the RHN servers (which carry official RHEL packages) that way. So I guess when talking strictly about RHEL, that’s a valid point, but CentOS can be used with APT as the only upgrading mechanism (as can Fedora). And I guess it’s also possible to set up a local, private mirror of RHEL packages which can be used with APT-RPM.
